Amazon Frogbit – Limnobium Laevigatum

Amazon Frogbit is a popular floating freshwater aquarium plant known for its smooth, rounded green leaves and long, decorative roots that hang freely into the water column. Its floating growth creates natural shaded areas and gives the aquarium a lush, established appearance. The long root system provides useful cover and shelter for shrimp, fry, and small fish. Amazon Frogbit also absorbs dissolved nutrients directly from the water column, which can help utilize excess nutrients in a planted aquarium. Under favourable conditions, it can reproduce quickly across the water surface, so occasional thinning is recommended to maintain adequate light and gas exchange for plants and livestock below.
